About Our Pack

Climbing the 40' wall at Durant Scout Reservation

Are you looking for a fun, family-oriented experience to do with your child? Want an activity to build confidence and character? Does going camping, learning skills, making crafts, playing games, being part of a group, and earning awards sound fun? Do you want to make memories that will last a lifetime?

If so, Cub Scouting is the right program for you and Pack 152 is a great place to join the fun! We meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 at Covenant Christian Church, located at 2911 SW Cary Parkway, in Cary, NC.

Den meetings are held weekly throughout the traditional school year. Dens are led by a Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader, and a parent assigned to that week’s meeting plan. We uphold the scouting philosophy of keeping it fun and safe to maintain an environment where Cubs can learn and grow.

Cub Scouting serves two purposes – to help develop young men and women that hold Scouting values high, and the other is to make memories for our children. By joining and participating with Pack 152, your scout will join an international brotherhood, gain confidence, build character, foster a sense of accomplishment, and have fun in the process!

Activities in our Pack

For Scouts and their families, Pack 152 has monthly hikes, monthly pack meetings, and year-round events. Registration for events is web-based and allows us to effectively plan resources prior to an event. Pack 152 holds summertime activities from June through August. Typical activities that we schedule are: camping in the outfield at the DBAP, home of the Durham Bulls, fishing, kit racing, tie-dyeing, and others. This is during the “off-season”!

Our typical calendar includes the following events:

  • August – Welcome Back Picnic
  • September – Popcorn kick-off and Beginning of Year Activities
  • October – Fall camp-out
  • November/December – Cary Holiday Parade and Holiday Pack Meeting
  • January – Pinewood Derby
  • February – Blue and Gold Banquet
  • March – Spring camp-out or Camporee
  • April – Community Service Projects and Cuboree
  • May – End of Year Picnic
  • June – Cub Scout Summer Camp
  • July – NOVA Program

Getting Started

We’d like every scout to have a navy blue (Tigers, Wolf, Bear) or khaki (Webelos and Arrow of Light) uniform shirt. Lions have the option of wearing a navy blue shirt or a Lion t-shirt. Council and Pack patches are provided upon payment of Registration and dues. Scout Shop location and hours of operation may be found by accessing the link (http://ocscouts.org/Contact).

Registration and dues are collected upon joining our Pack, then annually when we re-charter in January. We encourage Scouts to subscribe to Scouts’ Life magazine to enhance their Scouting experience.

Parent Volunteers

Behind every successful Scout is an active Parent. Many of our Parents volunteer on either a weekly (Den Leaders), monthly (Committee Members), or event or task-specific basis (Assistant Cubmasters/Scout Parents). All parents are encouraged to take the free Youth Protection Training and all leaders are required to take it.
